This design studio began with a master plan for Bath, England, situated just east of the River Avon. This project marked our initiation into comprehensive urban planning, emphasizing integration with the local context, character, and tradition. The master plan transformed the river into a communal amenity for the neighborhood. The plan seamlessly transitioned from high density along the river to lower density towards the countryside. The project's second phase focused on an iconic Bath typology – the Terracehouse. Embodying unity in design and intention, these houses epitomize the aesthetic beauty and proportionality for which Bath is renowned. The Terracehouse design deliberately maintained a simple facade, aligning with the principles of progressive omission, and prioritized proportions. Notably, the plans featured a strategic separation of the basement to create a rentable apartment, providing a practical solution to alleviate expenses for the primary occupants envisioned as a family with children.
